German hotel site to push into UK
German accommodation aggregator Hotel.de is to make a major push into the UK market with the launch of a new website, Travelres.com.
The company has established offices in London – for new domain name Travelres.com – and is also expected to make a determined effort to reach other European consumers in France, Italy and Spain, under the dot-fr, dot-it and dot-es URLs.
Hotel.de has already built a strong presence in the German-speaking countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, servicing up to 180,000 hotels worldwide.
“The aims is to establish Travelres as the leading online hotel reservation in the foreign markets, and – step-by-step – in Europe as a whole,” the company said.
Regional editions for Hotelres are expected in the Czech Republic, Holland, Sweden, Poland and Russia.
Hotel.de has grabbed a significant share of the corporate market since its launch, with German blue chip giants Wella, SAP and Degussa named alongside international clients such as Texas Instruments, Wal-Mart and Ernst & Young.
