TripAdvisor Flights brings airline ratings to travel review giant

TripAdvisor is offering its customers a new service allowing travellers to view customer ratings for individual airlines’ service and performance.

The new system ranks airlines according to baggage handling, check in experience, in-flight amenities, in-flight service, punctuality, reasonableness of fees, seat comfort and value.

Anyone searching for a flight on TripAdvisor can use the service by clicking on a carrier name. They are then able to view and compare the percentage of people recommending the airline. Members can filter search results by minimum rating and add ratings of  their own.

“For more than a decade, TripAdvisor has been the leader in enabling travellers to access and share trusted advice on hotels, restaurants, attractions and vacation rentals,” said Bryan Saltzburg, general manager of TripAdvisor Flights.

“With the launch of airline ratings, the millions of  travellers who use TripAdvisor Flights every month will now be able to get useful feedback on how airlines stack up against each other.”

The company is taking this idea a step further by showing the full prices of flights in its search, including the cost of one checked bag.

This new service is designed to make sure customers not only get the lowest fair but also get the best experience for their money.
