Silverjet, the new business class-only, low-cost airline for passengers between London and New York, has selected Videcom’s flight reservation system for the trade and consumer website.

The airline, which is hoping to commence flights as early as December 2006, depending on the delivery of new or refurbished aircraft, said it plans to launch the booking facility a full three months ahead of the first flights.

The Videcom system will be unveiled online to coincide with the launch of the company’s call centre, which is being outsourced to another unnamed, leading travel provider.

Chief executive Lawrence Hunt said: “The countdown now begins to Silverjet’s launch, when our customers will be able to enjoy an industry beating 30 minute check in, an award winning flat bed, an average £999 fare and a premium in-flight service.”

Silverjet plans to initially run services between London Luton airport and Newark Liberty International airport, near New York.

The Videcom technology will be used for both the UK and US markets.

The company also intends to launch other low-cost, long haul business routes in the future, once the initial service is established and profitable.
