Thomas Cook online turnover beats £1bn
Thomas Cook reported £1 billion-worth of sales through its online travel agent (OTA) division in the year to September.
The pan-European group passed the one-billion milestone in a year when its overall turnover declined 4% and pre-tax profits fell 7.5% year on year.
Thomas Cook reported OTA sales up 22% in the year compared with 2008-09.
Issuing its annual results this week, the group reported: “Our European OTA is a vital area for the group. Our first priority is to optimise sales of our own package holidays through the e-commerce channel.”
In a statement, it added: “We are also developing plans to broaden our offering of city breaks and accommodation.”
