The Travel Ad Network has bought TravelMuse as it moves away from working purely as an ad network for third-party sites.

The acquisition of TravelMuse, which sees about 100,000 visitors a month use the site to research destinations, make schedules and create guides, comes after Travel Ad Network raised $15 million in a funding round last month.

The acquisition has been made by the compnay as it transforms itself from “a vertical ad network into an integrated digital media company” and will allow it to add TravelMuse’s tools to some of the other sites it sells adverts for.

Brian Silver, the chief executive of Travel Ad Network which has an ad network of more than 300 travel sites, refused to rule out further acquisitions, adding Travel Ad Network is “always looking for good sites that add the right attributes to our ever growing audience.”
