Price comparison giant Moneysupermarket.com is to relaunch its travel site in the back of a 6% drop in revenues this summer.

The company, giving a trading statement, said visitor numbers to travelsupermarket.com declined by a similar percentage in the three months to September 30.

However, the  company said that trading in the travel division had improved compared to the first half of the year.

“Management continue to believe that there is significant structural growth potential in travel and work has begun on an improved travel website which will be ready for launch in the first quarter of 2011,” the company said.

The trading update did not provide figures, but the company described overall trading in the first few weeks of its fourth quarter as being 10% ahead of the same period last year.

Chief executive Peter Plumb said the company was “well placed to capitalise on its strengths as we begin to see signs of growth returning to our markets.”
