Online travel agent Expedia has struck a deal with Sofitel to include almost 200 of the luxury hotel chain’s properties across the portfolio.

The package will see properties in Europe, the Middle East and Africa included in Expedia and Hotels.com’s inventory of products.

Expedia’s EMEA Partner Services Group has negotiated the deal as part of a drive to include more “upscale” products through its suite of sites.

PSG president Paul Brown said: “We are very excited about forging this new partnership with Sofitel, as it enhances our offering of upscale properties and extends their global distribution reach through Expedia’s network.”

For Sofitel, the move, according to managing director Yann Caillere, will assist in the chain’s “ambitious growth plans”, which include a move into a multi-channel distribution strategy.

Senior VP for international lodging and destination services at Expedia PSG, Henrik Kjellberg, said: “Expedia partners with the world’s leading hotel companies worldwide, and this agreement with Sofitel is a significant achievement in our EMEA development plan.”
