Raileasy apps expand smartphone reach

Independent online train ticket retailer Raileasy has developed a series of mobile apps allowing users to book tickets via 90% of mobile devices.

Independent online train ticket retailer Raileasy has developed a series of mobile apps allowing users to book tickets via 90% of mobile devices.

The company claims this is the first time that an app has allowed direct purchasing of tickets.

The apps are available for download on the majority of phone types and allow users to plan their journey, search for fares, and securely purchase tickets.

Previous rail apps have only been available on iPhones, only provided journey planning services and sent users to a website to purchase tickets.

“This is a lengthy process and required the user to re-size web screens on their mobile making buying rail tickets from mobile apps difficult,” a spokesman said. “Raileasy is the first to provide a practical and convenient solution to this.”

The company aims to progress to a barcode ticketing system in the first quarter of next year.
