A mobile app allowing travellers to book travel direct from their mobile phone has gone live.

Tripmate247 is being launched worldwide on Windows Phone 7 with the initial markets being the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Built by online and mobile services provider MainTrack, the app allows users to choose their preferred language and currency to book flights, hotels, car rental, events and tourist attractions.

The mobile app is interactive with the tripmate247 website which are both supported by a customer call centre.

The app connects seamlessly with the main Tripmate247 website, meaning travellers can make bookings on any device and the information will be synchronised to their PC or mobile phone.

Itinerary information stored in the personal travel viewer can also be shared through SMS and email. The app can be downloaded from Windows Phone Marketplace.

Further features such as sharing booking information through Facebook and LinkedIn, personalised weather updates, visa notifications, currency exchange rates, check in details and live flight information will be included as free upgrades in November and December.

MainTrack co-founder Marcel Kalsbeek said: “Over 55% of people book their travel online in the UK today and increasingly they want the flexibility to do what they can do on their computer on their mobile phone.

“Now for the first time, with tripmate247, people can browse and book the travel experience they want on the go.

“Whether for business or pleasure, tripmate247 also ensures people have all their travel information stored exactly where they want so that they can easily access it wherever they are.”
