Fund raisers planning a three-legged climb of the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland are being supported by price comparison website Carrentals.co.uk.

The company has donated car hire for the Diabetes UK fundraising attempt as the volunteers hope to raise more than £4,500.

The three legged three peaks climb will help raise money for Diabetes UK’s care support holidays for children with type 1 diabetes.

The fundraisers – Claire Moon, Steven Craig and Ann Bentley – all have diabetes and have been volunteering for the charity for over 15 years.

The trio will start by climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland before travelling south to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and finishing on top of Snowdon in Wales over five days.

Moon said: “Ann, Steven and I were all diagnosed with diabetes at quite an early age and have been involved with Diabetes UK for many years now helping to run their care holidays.

“The holidays are funded purely through donations and sadly this year, fewer contributions have seen places on the holidays reduced.

“We therefore wanted to raise as much money as we could to make sure that the holidays would be able to keep running, as they offer a vital respite for children with type 1 diabetes, while allowing them to spend time with other diabetic children, so that they know they are not the only one.”

Donations to the ‘3 legged 3 Peaks Challenge’ can do so at its Just Giving site.
