Online travel agency sunshine.co.uk has expanded its domain portfolio with the purchase of turkey.co.uk.
The introduction of the new domain follows the purchase of 14 others, including spain.co.uk and Tenerife.co.uk, two months ago.
The company was prompted into investing in the new online travel agency domain for an undisclosed sum as Turkey is the second more popular holiday destination for sunshine.co.uk after Spain.
Despite the collapse of Goldtrail, Kiss and a number of other travel agencies this year, the founders of sunshine.co.uk expect Turkey to remain a destination growing in popularity for years to come.
Co-founder Chris Clarkson said: “Similar to Egypt, Turkey is a destination that has an alternative currency to the euro.
“I think this is a big reason why the country is so popular amongst holidaymakers today, as other currencies and better exchange rates still very much appeal to tourists.
“After already acquiring the domain for our most popular holiday resort, spain.co.uk, it made sense to look into launching a similar country-specific site for Turkey, our next best performing destination.”
