Comtec’s Powell makes way for new chief exec

Comtec co-founder and chief executive Simon Powell is stepping aside from the day to day running of the travel technology company.

Comtec co-founder and chief executive Simon Powell is stepping aside from the day to day running of the travel technology company.


He is moving to the role of vice-chairman as part of a number of top-level management changes.


The company’s executive team will be led by former interim chief operating officer Gordon Matthew. He assumes the position of interim chief executive


Comtec has also appointed a new non executive chairman to the board, Paul Woodley. He is chairman of Equidebt, a debt purchase and management platform, and IT services group ISG.
 
Powell said: “Comtec is now a larger and more complex organisation and it is appropriate for the business to progress through its next stage of growth under new day to day leadership. 


“This role change will allow me to focus on my core skills as an entrepreneur – building and maintaining strategic relationships and working on innovative product and market developments. 


“I remain totally committed to Comtec’s future and will remain as a major shareholder and investor.”
