Bing search behind new Amadeus booking tool

Enhanced hotel booking capabilities have been included in a new version of the Amadeus self-booking tool for corporates.

Enhanced hotel booking capabilities have been included in a new version of the Amadeus self-booking tool for corporates.

The latest version of e-Travel Management uses new hotel mapping technology based on Microsoft’s BING search facility.

Other new elements include instant ‘book now’ facilities, a clearer page layout and streamlined booking flow.

The release of version 13.2 of e-Travel Management sees the introduction of a revamped hotel shopping module which uses a new Graphical User Interface (GUI) which embraces the look and feel of Web 2.0.

It takes advantage of a central mapping system based on Microsoft BING maps, allowing users to intuitively visualise, search and navigate through a range of hotel selections by comparing locations, amenities, policy compliance, availability and prices.

The ‘book now’ feature instantly adds the hotel to travellers’ itineraries.

It benefits from using the same ‘Hotel Shopper’ technology as Amadeus Hotels Plus, the accommodation booking tool for travel agencies.

A multi-availability feature provides the opportunity to preview different rooms available in a given hotel. The availability is displayed directly, meaning the user can avoid navigating to the single availability screen first, streamlining the entire process, according to Amadeus.

Amadeus head of product management for corporations, Jean-Noel Lau Keng Lun, said: “We believe that version 13.2 will empower corporations to take greater control of their travel policies whilst at the same time ensuring that the utmost care is given to travellers and travel bookers by making it inherently easier for them to search for and book their business hotel accommodation.”
