A new travel technology company has been founded by the architect of Kuoni’s Platform II tour operator system.

Adrian Payne, who left the operator in March, has set up a dedicated travel industry IT solution company, AWP Software Solutions. He has been joined by key members of his Kuoni team.

The company will offer a range of hosted IT services claiming it will offer the flexibility, reliability and speed of delivery demanded in the fields of reservation, operation and ticketing systems.

In addition, AWP will provide travel industry business analysis and project management services.

AWP is operating from offices in Surrey, additionally working on the development of social networking and travel industry specific applications.

Payne said: “With many travel industry players chasing and failing to bring in satisfactory systems on time and on budget, I believe there is a gap in the market for a stable, intuitive, cost effective alternative, one that will provide powerful functionality to handle all types of holiday with a lower cost base for both technology and manpower.

“At a time when the industry seems determined to follow technological fads, we are offering a reliable, flexible and function-rich alternative that will allow a business to differentiate itself rather than pitch it into the general mediocrity.”
