Lastminute.com is the most followed travel brand in social media, with lowcostholidays.com the most interactive, according to new research.
Search marketing agency Greenlight has tracked the Facebook and Twitter accounts of 15 leading travel brands for the findings. Lastminute.com has close to 70,000 fans on Facebook. Onthebeach.com next on the list with over 26,000.
Lastminute.com also makes the most use of its Facebook page, producing 129 posts in May. It is also the most followed brand on Twitter, with just under 8,000. Nearly 4000 people follow Thomas Cook’s Twitter feed, beating Thomson’s feed, which has 1770.
Greenlight points out that while Thomas Cook doesn’t have a Facebook page in the UK it has one in France.
Lowcostholidays.com is singled out for being the most interactive brand, producing more tweets and Facebook posts than any brand. Its content included links to special offers on its websites.
