Hostelworld agent incentive supports Travelport launch

An incentive for travel agents to win $1,000 in a prize draw has been created by Hostelworld.com.

An incentive for travel agents to win $1,000 in a prize draw has been created by Hostelworld.com.

Agents are entered into the draw if they sign up to book the company’s accommodation via the new www.travelportleisure.com portal before July 31.

The portal, which Hostelworld claimed has attracted hundreds of agents in the first week, provides agents with access to more than 24,000 budget properties in 180 countries.

Travelport Leisure, an upgraded version of the former Galileo Leisure portal, now includes hostel, bed and breakfast, hotel and car options as well as new functionality to add localised content at a country level.

The system is free of charge to use for agents, even if they do not subscribe to a Travelport GDS.

Hostelworld.com group partnerships manager Yvonne Finlay said: “Travel agents are recognising that more and more people are seeing the value in budget accommodation, getting quality at affordable prices in the best locations, so more money can be spent experiencing their destination.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Travelport opening a new direct distribution channel for Hostelworld.com to over tens of thousands of travel agents worldwide.”
