Thomas Cook Airlines is introducing hand-held PlayStation Portables (PSP) on its short and medium-haul flights.

The consoles will cost £7.50 and will be available on 32 of the airline’s 44 aircraft. Earphone splitters will be available to buy for £5.

The PSPs come pre-loaded with video games, eight movies, and seven TV programmes and children’s shows, all of which can be rewound and paused.

Ian Derbyshire, chief executive of Thomas Cook UK and Ireland, said: “PSPs are the world’s best-selling and most popular hand-held entertainment consoles, so we’re expecting that they will be popular with adults and children alike.

“Only around one in 10 passengers watched the inflight entertainment previously provided, so with the introduction of PSPs, we’re giving our holidaymakers a fantastic choice of movies and films at their fingertips.”
