GuestCentric helps US hotels affected by oil slick

GuestCentric is offering hotels in areas affected by the BP oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico free use of its service.for three months.

Hotels, B&Bs, inns and rental properties in the coastal regions in Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida, which are under threat from the oil slick, will be able to use GuestCentric to keep customers updated on the crisis.


The offer includes the setting up of a Twitter channel and web-based e-commerce management solutions (valued at $1,497) that aim to increase the direct online business, and simplify the market of the property online.


The offer is valid until June 30, 2010. The waived fee date starts at the moment of the sign up, and will run for three months or until September 30, 2010.


A spokesman said: “We want to contribute to the recovery of the region and simplify the direct communication of small hotels and customers.”


The decision follows a similar move from TripAdvisor that gives hoteliers  free advertising on its Business Listings service.


The offer targets properties along the Gulf of Mexico’s impacted coastal lines ranging from Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida—and within 10 miles of the shore.
