Ebookers.com has launched “ebookers for agents”, an affiliate programme under which travel agents can earn commission for selling its products.

A dedicated telephone line and website, www.ebookersforagents.com has been set up for agents wishing to sign up to the scheme.

Standard commission rates are 10% for room-only bookings and 4% for packages. The first 100 travel agents to sign up and book on the site by June 30 will earn higher commissions for one year on all bookings.

Following the UK launch the online travel agent plans to roll out the affiliate programme across Europe.

The move is a further evidence of a move towards third party distribution for OTAs. Expedia already runs an affiliate programme and US giant and ebookers parent Orbitz announced an affiliate deal for US agents February.

Gilles Despas, ebookers’ B2B vice president, said: “Ebookers for agents will enable travel agent customers to benefit from the hotel and package deals negotiated by our global sourcing team, whilst still allowing travel agents the freedom to manage important revenue streams such as service charges and mark-ups.”

Steven Rice, head of offline marketing for UK, France and Ireland, added: “Ebookers for agents is the perfect solution for travel agents who want access to an enhanced range of hotel and package deals whilst earning extremely competitive commissions.

“There is no cost for agents to sign up to the programme. They receive free access to over 90,000 hotels, thousands of customised packages, flights from hundreds of airlines, and car rental hire from over 7,000 pick-up points.”
