VisitGuernsey has launched an online communications strategy targeting UK visitors and potential visitors via social media.

Its strategy includes a branded blogging platform, a Facebook page and Twitter feed. These will be supported by a Flickr photo-stream and YouTube channel.

Marketing manager Jason Moriarty said: “The time is right to introduce an integrated social media strategy for both our loyal repeat visitor base, as well as prospective first-time visitors to the island.

“Our new social media platforms allow us to be more accessible to our audience and build relationships with them via the networks that they are already using.

“Key to our approach is of course enabling conversation and interaction, as well as providing stories, images and information that we think will resonate with people.

“Our social media strategy may also encourage interest from a new audience who may not be familiar with our classical PR and marketing work.”

Moriarty hopes the move will show off Guernsey’s personality, natural beauty, people, quirks and history to a new audience.
