Small Luxury Hotels of the World has created an app to allow users to book hotels and share their favourites with friends.

The free app features more than 500 properties in 75 countries and will also find nearby points of interest including tourist attractions and quality restaurants.

Chief executive Paul Kerr said: “It provides a highly flexible and easy way to search, browse and book a hotel whilst on the go.

“We are also pleased to be able to provide our guests with instant and personally selected recommendations for famous landmarks near their hotels through the help of augmented reality and Google maps with GPS, so it is virtually impossible to get lost.’’

The app is split into three sections:

‘Discover’ allows searches through categories such as destination, experiences and special offers.

‘Share’ gives iphone users the chance to shortlist their favourite SLH hotels and experiences to be shared with family and friends via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail. 

And ‘Enjoy’ allows searches for nearby points of interest and gives recommendations.

The app is also available for the iPod Touch.
