A travel agent has been sacked from her job at Tui Travel in Coventry for making comments about her colleague on Facebook.

According to reports, Emma Short, 26, used the social networking site to vent her anger about a co-worker who she claims was bullying her at work.

She wrote that she had “never been so angry” and wanted to “smack the brown-nosing cow in the face”.

Short was reported by colleague and suspended for two days, then fired for cyberbullying, threatening behaviour and breaching company internet policy.

Short, who has two children, began working at the Tui call centre in September last year.

A Tui spokeswoman said: “All employees, as per their contract of employment, must observe our policies which are relevant to their position and work activities. In the event of an alleged breach in company policy, we will investigate the matter in accordance with our procedures.

“We take the posting of inappropriate content onto any social networking site during or outside of company time seriously and will investigate any concerns raised where these processes are not being adhered to.  If necessary, this can result in disciplinary action being taken.”
