KAYAK launches Trips planning tool in the UK

Travel search engine KAYAK has launched its Trips itinerary management tool in the UK.

Travel search engine KAYAK has launched its Trips itinerary management tool in the UK.

The service combines travel plans from multiple sites to create one itinerary once customers have emailed their booking confirmation details to their KAYAK user account.

Launched in the US last November, it can send travel alerts, calendar integration and can integrate with KAYAK iPhone and other applications for mobile telephones.

As well as offering an enhanced service for users the Trips tool allows KAYAK to capture valuable customer booking and behavioural data.

Paul English, KAYAK co-founder said: “We’ve already made it simple to compare hundreds of travel sites at once.

“Now we’re making it easier to track the bookings you make across any of those sites, including one-click sharing which can be used to exchange trip details with your friends.”

Keith Melnick, KAYAK executive vice president of corporate development, who oversees European operations, said more innovations were in the pipeline.

“Compared with 2009, we’ve seen European visits to the site in January double, and we intend to continue rolling out new products in Europe to give consumers the must-have resources for all their travel needs.”
