Exclusive: Google UK chief to speak at Travolution Summit

The head of Google in the UK has been lined up as one of the speakers at this year’s Travolution Summit in April.

Matt Brittin, a former Trinity Mirror executive, was promoted in February last year to run the UK operations of the search engine giant.

Brittin will join a high profile line-up of speakers at the event on April 20 drawn from the online world and from politics and commerce.

In an interview last year Brittin predicted only companies that are “agile” and can adapt will survive the recession and that the way consumers their mobile phones will fundamentally change in 12-18 months.

Earlier this year Google launched its next generation Nexus Android handset entering the ‘super phone’ market, to date dominated by Apple’s iPhone.

Simon Ferguson, TWGroup chief executive, said it was a real coup for Travolution to secure Brittin as a speaker.

“He is a fantastic and inspiring presenter. It is not often he speaks at these sort of events, so we’re very excited to be able to include him in our agenda.

“This is a superb opportunity for travel industry delegates to hear from a man at the helm of one of, if not the most, important firms for so many travel companies in the UK today.”

The day-long summit will offer delegates expert insight into the current state of the travel market, innovations in online retail and distribution and views from outside of the travel industry.

With the Summit likely to take place around three weeks before the General Election, it will open with a high profile speaker from the world of politics.

Up to 400 delegates are expected to attend the Summit that will take place at the Renaissance Chancery Court. Registrations for delegate places are open now.

Sponsors include Orange, Frommers Unlimited, Amadeus, Jumeriah Hotels and Resorts and Pure Genie.
