Corporate rail booking specialist Evolvi has experienced a 12% increase in sales to £246 million for 2009.

The company booked 3.8 million journeys for its travel management company customers, which include eight out of the top 10 UK TMCs.

Evolvi attributed the sales increase to improved desktop booking solutions as well as increased productivity for travellers as a result of better services from the train operating companies.

Evolvi trade relations manager Jon Reeve said carbon tracking obligations had contributed to the growth with business travellers saving 150,000 tonnes of C02 travelling by rail rather than car.

When compared to air travel, there was a C02 saving of 139,000 tonnes.
