Claimed to be a first for the UK travel trade the adverts will feature in Pearl and Dean cinemas throughout the two month peak early year booking period and up until the end of March.

The adverts will run before screenings of the latest James Cameron blockbuster movie Avatar and there will also be interactive floor messaging and promotions on high definitions TV screens.

The cinema campaign is part of a multi-media approach from Royal Caribbean which will also see advertising in national newspapers, on television, direct mail and online.

The 2010 turn of year campaign is themed around Royal Caribbean’s new “Nation of Why Not” tag line developed in the US, its core market.

Jo Briody, Royal Caribbean International head of marketing, said: “New releases such as Avatar are changing the way people consume film, and innovation-led brands need to be on top of this trend.

“Royal Caribbean International is excited to be leading the way in 3D advertising and are confident that this new channel will be equally effective for our brand’s awareness in the future.”
