First day for new Travelsupermarket boss

Travelsupermarket.com’s new general manager Robin Sutherland has officially joined the online comparison site

Travelsupermarket.com’s new general manager Robin Sutherland has officially joined the online comparison site.

Formerly Isango vice-president (retail), today is Sutherland’s first day in his new job in which he will oversee strategy, business growth and profitability.

Sutherland has worked in the online travel industry for the last decade with Travelzest, Expedia and First Choice, among his other previous employers.

In his new role he has taken overall responsibility for running Travelsupermarket.com, reporting to managing director Graham Donoghue who also heads up the group’s insurance and home services divisions.

Sutherland said: “Price comparison as an online category has grown rapidly over the last few years and the financial downturn has accelerated that growth.

“I am excited to join the market leader both in travel comparison and the wider category. Competition in the sector is increasing and it is the challenge of staying ahead of the competition that makes this role so interesting.”

Donoghue added: I am delighted someone with Robin’s background and experience is joining us to drive forward the growth of travel.

“His appointment will also allow me to focus on my wider responsibilities within the group. I am sure Robin will be a strong addition to the senior management team and I look forward to working with him.”
