Thomas Cook has integrated Comtec’s Travelink system for its Signature brands and Gold Medal in a move that has been described by the operator as ‘interim’.

The move follows the collapse of BlueSky Travel Systems, the operator’s core reservations technology supplier, in October.

Thomas Cook acquired the intellectual property rights of BlueSky and its iTour system for an undisclosed sum at the end of October.

The operator also took on a number of former BlueSky staff on temporary contracts. A statement from the operator in November confirmed the purchase of ‘certain assets’, and said the move would enable it to ‘move ahead with its plans for the iTour system.’

BlueSky won the £20 million contract to develop a multi-channel reservation system for Thomas Cook. Neither Thomas Cook or Comtec were prepared to comment other than to confirm the move was ‘interim’.
