Online travel agent Opodo has launched its long-awaited dynamic packaging tool, featuring a system to allow users to compare prices against existing package holidays.

The new service, which has been soft-launched this week and is expected to be backed by a marketing campaign in September, has included what Opodo calls a “Shopping Basket” facility to give consumers the ability to check their own bundled deal against others.

Opodo has also issued a guarantee to users that the dynamically packaged deal will be lower than similar package holidays listed on the website.

The pan-European tool has been created in order to take into account the varying rates of development in the dynamically packaged holiday market in different territories.

Chief executive Simon Vincent said: “Europe is still very much a package holiday market consumers buying traditional packaged holidays as well as dynamically packaged breaks via the internet.

“Different markets in Europe are at different stages of evolution when it comes to their dynamic packaging offerings, hence why Opodo has built a service which allows customers to either build their own package or choose a pre-combined trip, all in one booking flow.”
