Deals publisher Travelzoo has announced that Chris Loughlin, executive vice president for Europe, will take over as chief executive at the start of July next year.

He will replace current boss Holger Bartel, who will take over from his brother Ralph as chairman of the board. Ralph, who has been chairman for more than a decade, remains with the business as a board member.

The announcement follows on from last week’s news that Stephen Dunk, currently commercial director for the UK, has been promoted to operations director for Europe. His UK role is being taken over by Joel Brandon-Bravo who joins from Frommers.

Loughlin’s promotion comes after eight years with the business. He started out as business development director in 2001, based in Silicon Valley. In 2003 he moved to Chicago to help with the North American business before  moving to London in 2005 to kickstart Travelzoo in Europe with the UK site.

He will be based in New York in his new role.
