Agents get access to Expedia flights inventory

UK travel agents in Expedia’s Travel Agent Affiliate Programme will be able to earn commission on seat-only bookings, the company announced yesterday.

UK travel agents in Expedia’s Travel Agent Affiliate Programme will be able to earn commission on seat-only bookings, the company announced yesterday.

Expedia promised “competitive commissions on long-haul flights”.

Previously it had focused on shifting hotel inventory and dynamic packages through the scheme – around 40% of all bookings from UK members of TAA are packages.

Expedia director of travel agent distribution Diego Pedrani said that flights had been added in response to requests from affiliates, many of whom wanted to be able to book business class for clients.

He added that some agents were using Expedia to book flights before they joined TAAP, missing out on the commission.

As part of the announcement to celebrate its first year in the UK, it also announced that commissions will be paid monthly rather than quarterly.

More than 450 UK travel agents have joined in the first twelve months. Expedia had hoped to sign up 1,000 agents by the end of the year.
