Travel software specialists Multicom and market leading short break provider Superbreak have joined forces to further support the significant increase in demand for UK breaks from the domestic market.

Driven partly by the credit crunch and the weakness of sterling, particularly in the Eurozone, Superbreak reports that bookings for UK breaks from agents have increased by over 20% for the year to date compared to 2008.

In a move designed to maximise the opportunities of this increase in demand, the York based company has teamed up with Multicom to launch its hotels and apartments product on the FindandBook platform (FAB), favoured by over half of UK travel agents.

It will provide agents using FAB and other web based travel businesses access to Superbreak’s award winning range of hotels and apartments at a time when demand has never been better.

Superbreak sales director Ian Mounser said: “We are delighted to be working with Multicom to make our accommodation products available through FindandBook and extend our distribution through this platform to other markets.

“The growth in demand for UK holidays from the domestic market has been significant this year, for example agent bookings for London hotels in June and July alone are up over 40 percent year on year.

“With 80% of our business being UK hotels we are ideally placed to provide the widest choice for travel agents to access these products at a time when more and more customers want them. I would really encourage any travel business that’s not currently offering UK hotel breaks to seriously consider it.”

Superbreak’s overseas stock will also be available via FAB, which can be linked to Multicom’s Eurostar booking facility if required, while airport hotels and other add-ons are also available with Superbreak acting as principal on all bookings.

Multicom head of sales David Osborne added: “Superbreak is a well-established business with an excellent reputation and we are pleased to be working with yet another market leader to provide travel businesses with the best choice available for their customers.

“At a time when UK breaks are in huge demand from the domestic market this is an ideal opportunity for us to work together.”
