A year of acquisitions and industry demand for increased services and global reach have led Comtec-Group to undertake a major restructure, effective immediately, which enables the company to be more customer focused.

The business will now be divided into three distinct business units with dedicated product teams, meaning increased levels of expertise and enhanced product knowledge, faster roll out and higher service levels.

Each of the three business units will be led by a General Manager, which is a new role within the organisation. Comtec has made a number of new appointments as a result of the restructure, including Chris Nourse, who was formerly a GM at Multicom.

The three new business areas are:

* Tour Operating.  Led by General Manager Chris Suddell, this team’s focus is on selling, managing and supporting the continued roll-out of Comtec’s highly successful Travelink, which has just announced Ramblers Holidays as its latest client.

* Travel Agents / Retail Business.  Jon Pickles is the newly appointed General Manager for the retail side of Comtec’s business. He manages the Travelconnect team, which is starting to take on more clients, with STA Travel just announced, The Ecommerce Team and the CRM team also report into this business unit.

* Gateway / Distribution. Chris Nourse, who brings a wealth of relevant distribution experience with him, has been appointed General Manager for Comtec’s award winning Travelgateway product, which provides all content across Comtec’s product suite.

There will be no changes to any of the overseas offices.

Simon Powell, CEO of Comtec Group, comments: “This is a real shift in approach for Comtec, and is a step we are taking to ensure that we continue to deliver the very best solutions to the travel industry both in the UK and around the globe.

“Despite the economic downturn, we are continuing to see real growth and in order to keep up with demand and continue to innovate on our customers’ behalves; we have had to look at how we run our business.

“I know that our new ‘unit-focused’ structure will provide the empowerment, simplicity and scalability, as well as the right people, to continue to take the business forward.”
