Travelzoo, a global Internet media company, announced today that it will recommend entertainment special offers in the European editions of its popular Top 20 list which have over 2.8 million weekly subscribers.
The decision comes after six months of successful testing where Travelzoo featured offers from 20 popular shows and events across the UK, Germany, France and Spain, including Billy Elliot, Chicago, Cirque de Soleil, Disney’s The Lion King, Dirty Dancing, Grease, and U2 at Wembley.
“We have discovered that our European subscribers are very interested in entertainment special offers. Our picks for Disney’s The Lion King and Chicago received some of the highest audience interest and user ratings of any offer we have featured so far this year.
“Production and theatre companies have confirmed that this interest quickly translates into strong bookings, with one show recording 680 ticket sales from one mention in the Top 20,” said Melanie Bower, vice president, network, destinations and entertainment, Travelzoo.
Travelzoo has recommended entertainment special offers in North America since 2005.
Last year, more than 1,000 entertainment offers were featured in Travelzoo’s North American publications, including top shows like the Blue Man Group, The Producers and Phantom of the Opera, concerts from Barry Manilow and Maroon 5 to Oasis and sporting events from the NBA Basketball, Major League Baseball and NFL Football.
