Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading global distribution system (GDS) providers, and the Air Berlin Group have today jointly announced a new, full content agreement for Galileo and Worldspan-connected travel agents worldwide.

The new agreement guarantees all Travelport GDS-connected travel agents with access to the fares and inventory of the various airlines making up the Air Berlin Group including Air Berlin, LTU and NIKI.

As part of the agreement, all of the airlines’ published fares – including their online fares – will be distributed, at no additional cost to Travelport GDS-connected users.

“The Air Berlin Group is a significant player in the lower-cost airline market and offers an extensive route network across Europe,” said Jérôme Moisan, Travelport  general manager UK and Ireland.

“In the current economic climate, corporate customers are increasingly attracted to the Air Berlin Group’s winning combination of lower prices and high service levels, so we are delighted to have secured this full content for our travel agency customers.”

Thorsten Scherzer, VP Distribution for the Air Berlin Group said: “The extensive network that Travelport GDS offers, both within Europe and further afield, gives us exceptional access to the travel trade and is an important part of our overall distribution strategy.

“It perfectly complements our own channels and will be a key driver as we look for ways to grow our business over the coming years.”

As part of the agreement, Air Berlin and Travelport also plan to undertake a range of joint marketing activities across Europe to support the regional travel trade.
