Travel technology specialist Comtec has signed a major contract with Harvey World Travel to kit out its call centre and retail branches with new systems.

The £1m deal will see both the TravelCat and EasySell packages installed in 25 shops and in a further 300 branches the company plans to open nationwide.

A major part of Harvey World Travel’s plans for expansion will also include the opening of out-of-town travel superstores.

Melvyn Taylor, HWT’s IT Manager, added “TravelCat and EasySell have a proven track record of success. By allowing all our availability to be summarised in an easily accessible format, we expect this latest technology to give us a strong commercial advantage in the price-conscious early booking market and improved flexibility as we enter the lates market”.

The deal follows a trial of the two systems against existing system used by Harvey World Travel and others available.

Richard Turner, sales director at Comtec, said: “Over the last year, several top groups have embraced both TravelCat and EasySell to create one of the most powerful integrated search, booking and management systems available.”
