Boutique and luxury hotel guide specialist Mr & Mrs Smith is to continue its overseas expansion programme by launching a new operation for the Asia-Pacific region.

The London-based company, which produces high-end guidebooks alongside a fully functioning website, will open a Melbourne office in April 2009 to serve Australia, New Zealand and Asian countries.

The division will start by collecting around 200 hotel properties listings in Australia and elsewhere in Asia by the end of 2010.

Two new guidebooks (Australia & New Zealand and Asia) are planned for later this year and spring 2010 respectively.

New online content for the region will be available at the existing mrandmrssmith.com but will automatically redirect to special pages for Asia-Pacific users and local currencies.

The new Asia-Pacific division of Mr & Mrs Smith will be co-owned and run by Simon Westcott, ex-global publisher of Lonely Planet.

The launch comes six months after Mr & Mrs Smith opened its first overseas office in the US.

The service has since been selected by brides.com to provide hotel information for its honeymoon ideas section.
