Travelport is looking to pilot its Universal Desktop agency system with both leisure and business travel agencies next month.

The company, which unveiled the technology to agency partners earlier this week, is planning to pick up to three agencies to test the system.

Universal Desktop aims to aggregate a raft of search, booking, collaborative, tracking and productivity tools to provide agents with everything on one system.

Features include the integration of instant messenger, e-mail, favourite internet links and widgets.

Travelport plans to phase in new releases of the platform, which can work in conjunction with any of the global distribution systems or direct supplier connections, every quarter this year.

The company is currently working on several different interfaces for Universal Desktop and plans to gauge agent feedback of the best one.

Travelport declined to name who was in the frame for the pilot.
