A call centre fulfilment service aimed at reduced fixed overheads for travel companies has been set up by former Au Logistics director Garry Winterburn and wife Lindsey, former co-owner of Calls Online.

Winterburn left brochure distribution company Au Logistics as a result of its sale to its rival Orbital Marketing Services, owners of BP Travel Marketing Services, in December.

Lindsey left travel fufilement company Calls Online, formed with On Holiday Group founder Steve Endacott and sold to Global Travel Group in 2004, in June last year.

Their new company, Contemporary Travel Solutions, has around 20 homeworkers and is a member of Hays Independence Group, under which it receives ABTA, IATA and ATOL membership. It provides outsourcing for reservations and sales calls for both tour operators and agencies.

Garry, who has also worked at Airtours, Hayes and Jarvis and Manchester Airport, said the service could involve taking calls in the evening when a tour operator’s reservation lines are shut or handling overflow calls to the company’s call centre. It charges on a per booking basis.

He added: “There are lots of people looking to reduce overheads and for operators it takes away a fixed cost which is important in the current climate.”

So far the company has two tour operators signed up and is tendering for a further two contracts, providing reservations and sales outsourcing.
