The surge in domestic holiday bookings continues apace, with leading UK holiday operator Hoseasons reporting their highest ever daily booking online last weekend (on Sunday 4th January).

The booking figures, up by 40 per cent on last year, broke all company online booking records, and if company predictions are correct could well be overtaken in the coming weeks.

Over the last seven days since New Years Day, Hoseasons has seen overall booking for UK products through all channels up 50 per cent, with travel agents up a staggering 55 per cent.

Hoseasons business development director Pali Badwal commented: “Enhancements to the website have made it quicker and easier for all types of customers to find the unit of holiday accommodation they want.

“Already in 2009 we are over 50 per cent up on 2008, both from direct customers, and also from our partnerships and travel agents who are driving this fantastic record-beating growth.

“The combination of economic uncertainty and the weak pound seems certain to deliver a bumper year for the UK, and this represents a great opportunity for travel agents and partners.

“Those who are prepared to really market the UK could have a very good year, bucking the gloomy trends which are being widely reported.”
