Dealbase, new US deals publishing website fronted by a former-Sidestep executive, is to launch in the UK in early-2009.

Dealbase.com was launched in May this year in Beta and is fronted by Sam Shank, who joined Sidestep as part of its acquisition of Travelpost in the summer of 2007 but left shortly after the Kayak buyout of Sidestep in December last year.

The site aggregates hotel deals from mainly in the US but Shank told Travolution the UK market is a “top priority” for 2009.

The system is similar to other deal publishing sites – such as Travelzoo and Shermans – except hoteliers are able to upload their own deals and special offers directly to the site.

Dealbase is also showing information updates of hotel in real time so users can see how details of properties alter over time, such as ratings from sites such as hotels.com.
