WhatsOnWhen rebranded to Frommers

Digital pioneer Whatsonwhen is to be rebranded Frommer’s Unlimited  – a move which will integrate the online expert’s business-to-business services together with Frommer’s, the market leader in travel content for more than 50 years and a branded imprint of John Wiley & Sons Inc.

The news was announced at Phocuswright in the US today and follows the Wiley acquisition of Whatsonwhen in 2006.

An innovator in travel content, the extensive services of Frommer’s Unlimited will help industry leaders change the way consumers engage with travel content by providing business-to-business partners with fresh world-class content that will engage, convert and retain profitable customers – both online and off.

Frommer’s Unlimited branded content services are designed to help companies remain competitive in this changing travel landscape by capitalizing on new ways to deliver content and enrich their customer’s travel experience, whether it’s by mobile, in-flight, in print or online.

Frommer’s Unlimited now provides comprehensive content to partners in a variety of formats including: online, in guidebooks, through mobile devices and more, with multi-media delivery that can be customized to fit any brand perfectly.

Whether companies are trying to capture interest for travelers that are close to home or trekking across the globe, whether a budget has limits or is limitless, Frommer’s Unlimited delivers the most candid and reliable travel and event information, anywhere and anytime.

“Frommer’s continues to position itself as a market leader by merging award-winning travel content with technology for the travel industry,” said Rob Flynn, vice president and global travel publisher of Frommer’s.

“As the travel authority, we’re continuing our industry excellence with new partnerships and product extensions.   Frommer’s Unlimited is committed to providing companies with innovative applications for informative and real-time content that will help novice and seasoned travelers navigate their travel with ease.”

Over the course of the past six months, Frommer’s has paved the way with their partners leading the industry in content innovation.  Frommer’s Travel Guides for iPhone™ and iPod® were released in partnership with Modality earlier this year.  The digital guides of metropolitan cities such as New York City, San Francisco, London and Paris give consumers access to the complete contents of the trusted print guides in the palm of their hands, along with local travel tips, restaurant and hotel reviews, and bonus features such as location-based services, interactive maps, and Web and phone links at a tap of a finger.

With exciting new partnerships to come that will change the way consumers interact with travel content, Frommer’s Unlimited underscores the brand’s evolution with these recent first-of-its-kind travel innovations
