Scandinavian meta search provider Travelmarket is to relaunch its UK platform by December this year after reporting “steady” growth in its first nine months.

The company launched in a blaze of publicity in March this year after legal threats from rival meta search engine Travelsupermarket over the use of ‘travelmarket’ as a brand name.

Travelmarket told Travolution this week the legal action never materialised and it planned to continue its operations in the UK.

The new platform will use both XML and screen scraping technology for fares and availability on nearly 750 airlines and online travel agencies.

Founder Ole Stouby said: “The speed of the engine has been improved and the way we search for fares is far more intelligent, using both methods.”

The consumer engine currently attracts over 50,000 unique users a month in the UK. The Copenhagen-based company said on its home turf around 300,000 unique users used the website.

The company’s B2B arm, Travelmarketinteractive, has also seen made some inroads into the UK market, Stouby confirmed, signing 14 partnership deals with providers such as youtravel.com and HotelBeds.
