Former TUI colleagues Mike Collins and Alberto Boeri have reunited at long haul, late booking specialist Tropical Sky, to coincide with the site’s launch into North America.

Collins, managing director of Tropical Sky, has hired Boeri to head the latest expansion for the website with two new portals for the US and Canada.

As director for the North America team, Boeri will spearhead the launch of the two sites on 12 May.

The move follows the successful launch of Africa Sky, the first in Tropical’s strategy to become a web-based, late-booking travel agent for the long haul market.

Collins said: “I am delighted to have an opportunity to work with Alberto again after many years at TUI together.

“He was the ideal person to launch our new venture with a wealth of experience at senior managerial level including his last eight and a half years at TUI UK where he was instrumental in the growth of Jetsave and the launch of Thomson America and Canada.”

The North America Tropical Sky will concentrate on late booking deals for city breaks to major tourist centres such as Las Vegas and New York, alongside adventure holidays and wildlife tours.

Prior to TUI, Boeri worked as operations director at the Globus-Cosmos group in New York.
