Shermans Travel UK, the recently launched version of the successful US travel deals site, is expanding its service to include what it calls Editors Picks.


The Picks will run alongside the existing Top 25 deals of the week, which are emailed out to subscribers of the service and follow a similar format to the equally successful Travelzoo service.


Deals featured in the new Picks section will contain far higher levels of information about a particular deal or brand, such as holiday homes or World Cup options for this summer’s tournament in Germany.


Shermans Travel head in the UK, Ruth Bickerton, said: “We recognise how important it is to our audience to provide quality impartial travel advice.


“It ensures repeat visitors to our site and a genuine interest in receiving our Top 25 newsletter.


An often largely sceptical industry in the UK has yet to give its backing to the concept adopted by Shermans and Travelzoo, although the growth of both companies in the US has been nothing short of meteoric.


The UK version of Shermans launched in January this year.


“Such valuable content is the key to creating interest to specific deals which then drive bookings through to our partners,” Bickerton said. “It’s a successful formula offering the best in online travel deals and travel advice displayed in a simple format.”


Advertisers currently using Shermans include Air France, OnlineTravel.com, Thomas Cook, British Airways and Airline Network.
