Cosmos has become the latest travel company lining up to take advantage of Google Earth, the ubiquitous search engine’s massively popular interactive global map tool.

Customers will be able to search all Cosmos products in Florida, USA, on the Google Earth platform in a move designed to enhance the user experience on the Cosmos website.

The development has been made to coincide with the launch of the tour operator’s Florida brochure for 2007.

Cosmos product director Stuart Jackson said: “With a destination like Florida people want to plan their holiday of a lifetime right down to the last possible detail – see exactly how close their chosen hotel will be to everything they want to visit and take full advantage of whilst on holiday.

“We decided that our Florida programme was the perfect product with which to launch the Cosmos Google Earth link but we will be rolling the technology out across other products shortly.”

Like other travel-related products that have tapped into the Google Earth phenomenon, Cosmos customers will be able to find out where accommodation is located – as precise as the actual road – in the state.

Other attractions and facilities such as banks, restaurants and supermarkets will also be featured in the package.

The inclusion of Cosmos in the Google Earth arena comes swiftly after Thomson, which is using the tool to display holiday destination and facilities for its Mediterranean holidays.
