Clients of travel technology provider Comtec are to get access to cross-channel ferry, Eurostar and Eurotunnel booking facilities.

A deal signed between the Cwmbran-based Comtec and e-commerce logistics group Pharos will give travel agents and tour operators the ability to search and book tickets on their own back office systems through the Xchange reservation product.

The system is XML-based and also allows users to book on-board accommodation with ferry companies and amend or cancel reservations.

Comtec product director Ed Whiting said: “Comtec’s customers require the capability to search and book every kind of travel product, efficiently and cost-effectively.

“The addition of ferry, Eurotunnel and Eurostar booking capability further enhances the range of travel products bookable via Comtec’s travel selling systems and complements our existing holiday, flights, beds and essentials booking platform.”

The ferry operators installed into the package include Brittany Ferries, Condor, DFDS, Speedferries, Irish Ferries, Norfolkline, P&O Ferries, Sea France, Stena Line, Red Funnel Ferries and Wightlink.

The London to Paris and Brussels Eurostar services will also be available alongside the vehicle and passenger shuttle between Folkestone and Calais.

Alan Warburton of Pharos said: “Productivity is key to the success of travel organisations and Pharos’ integration with Comtec’s travel selling systems ensures ferry, Eurotunnel and Eurostar booking services are now easily accessible to Comtec’s customers.”
