Travelzoo, a global Internet media company, announced today that Hitwise, a leading online measurement company, ranked Travelzoo first out of 1,023 companies in its ‘travel agencies’ category for visits from email in August 2008, thanks to traffic from its Top 20 newsletter.

The ‘travel agencies’ category includes travel agents, tour operators and travel publishers. Travelzoo received almost twice as much traffic as Expedia.co.uk, lastminute.com or Thomson Holidays, three times more than Cheapflights.co.uk and nine times more than travelsupermarket.com, First Choice or Airline Network.

Unlike travel companies who receive downstream traffic from email service providers for customer care matters, such as online check-in emails, all of Travelzoo’s downstream traffic from email service providers can be attributed to its popular Top 20 newsletter.

In August 2008, UK subscribers clicked 1,632,557 times on travel offers published in the Top 20 newsletter.
