The Global Travel Group has bought Calls Online, the Kent-based virtual call centre and fulfilment company.

The takeover is for an undisclosed fee and has been touted as a major step by Global Travel Group in its bid to challenge the likes of Travel Counsellors and Future Travel.

Calls Online will access to Global Travel’s infrastructure and in turn the Cheshire-based Triton brand will gain what it has called a “reputable” home working distribution network.

Managing director of Calls Online, Lindsey Herbert, is expected to relocate to Cheshire to oversee the transition and will remain in overall control of the company.

She said “The main motivating factor for our partnership is the groups’ technology and innovation centre – it is simply unparalleled.

“Imminent technological innovations at The Triton Travel Group are set to change the face of the independent sector and these developments are the most significant that the travel industry will have seen in over a decade.”

Andrew Botterill, chief executive at Global and a member of the Travolution advisory board, added: “With our own growing portfolio of products, distribution is key.

“Calls Online tick all the boxes for the Groups’ long term distribution strategy and the expertise they bring will elevate the Group in this sector.”
