Press release – 17 September 2008 – Aer LingusDatalex

Aer Lingus, the low cost, low fares airline, has relied on the Datalex Travel Distribution Platform (TDP) to drive its primary distribution channel www.aerlingus.com since 2002.

Today, the TDP Platform enables approximately 80% of online air bookings at lowest distribution cost.

Datalex has completed the deployment of a new TDP product release to www.aerlingus.com, the highlight of which is the TDP e-interlining solution in support of the JetBlue and Aer Lingus partnership. This ground-breaking partnership opens over 40 destinations on the JetBlue network in the US to passengers booking online at aerlingus.com.

The booking process uses the Datalex e-interlining solution to combine availability, shopping and pricing for both carriers in real time, offering an end-to-end booking experience for customers in just one transaction.

TDP’s innovative functionality paves the way for any airline wishing to extend online partnerships to do so on a multiple basis with other carriers, while permitting the airline to retain distribution control and management of the fares and pricing process.

Recent deployments of the Datalex Travel Distribution Platform on www.aerlingus.com have included advanced TDP Business Rules Centre (BRC) features to enable pre-seat selection fees, baggage fees, manage booking functionality, integrated flight driven car rental booking process and integrated insurance booking. Such features have been fundamental to the substantial growth in ancillary revenues.

Aer Lingus can now easily extend its use of the TDP BRC and develop supplementary rules for both airlines in order to offer special fares and other offers during specified promotional periods across specified routes or route groups.

Other TDP release highlights include the migration to a new TDP Hosted Fares pricing and management system and advanced management capability for tax management, discounting and passenger facility charges.

Commenting on the latest TDP release, Cormac Whelan, Datalex chief executive said: “Datalex has developed a strong and successful relationship with Aer Lingus as their technology partner of choice. We are proud to be associated with such an industry pioneer and to enable such ground breaking innovations in travel distribution such as the Aer Lingus and JetBlue e-interlining partnership.”
